What to Expect During Massage and Bodywork
What to expect depends on the style or flavor of massage you choose. Different modalities and styles aim at different desired outcomes for the client. Some are done on tables, some on special chairs, some on the floor. Swedish and Esalen Massage are done on bare skin using oils, so you may choose to disrobe to your level of comfort and you will be carefully draped with sheets and/or towels. Thai Massage, BREEMA, Shiatsu and other styles of massage are done on a padded floor with the client clothed. You would want to wear loose clothing to receive these treatments. Some modalities are deep and others use "subtle energy" with very light or even no touch. Study the information available about the many different modalities to help you know what to expect so you will be comfortable with the type of massage and bodywork you choose. Remember, "different strokes for different folks", you can try many modalities and discover your favorites.
