AMTA National Education Committee Quashes PEER

The AMTA National Education Committee singled out the PEER offerings sponsored by the AL Chapter in cooperation with Educo, Inc. as offerings that AMTA National would not accept for CE credit from AMTA members applying for renewal.  Consequently, the AL Chapter must sever our agreement with Educo, Inc. and we face the loss of potential revenue from PEER CE offerings so generously  structured by Educo, Inc. in the development of PEER with the AMTA AL Chapter.

Paradoxically, the NCBTMB renewed our status as a Category A Provider, and the State of Alabama Massage Board accepts our CE offerings for Alabama Therapists qualifying for license renewal.  While there is therefore some ambiguity and inconsistency in the various professional massage standard setting bodies, and both the National AMTA and the NCBTMB work toward also offering online CE opportunities to massage therapists, the AL Chapter is forced by this National Education Committee decision to back away from our pioneering effort in this type of CE.  We regret the loss of opportunity and potential chapter income from this National Committee decision.
